Hotel Suisse sits right at the beginning of the Promenade des Anglais, in an Italian-style building overlooking the Baie des Anges. The harbor (Nice Port) is on the opposite side, also an easy walk, and HYDE, a bistro at the port, made for a friendly, genuinely good lunch (the pumpkin soup stood out).
For getting around, the Opéra–Vieille Ville tram stop is about a 10-minute walk, and Cathédrale–Vieille Ville is about 8 minutes — enough to make day trips and other neighborhoods easy to reach without a car.

If there’s one moment to plan around, it’s sunset. The view from the balcony at that hour — sun dropping over the bay, the promenade below — was the highlight of the whole stay.
Room Size, Cleanliness, and Noise
The room was not small. The bathroom, with a bathtub, was generous, and a large window opening onto the balcony made the space feel more open than its actual square footage. Cleanliness was excellent throughout.
Because the balcony faces the promenade, there’s some noise from people and passing cars during the day. It’s the ordinary sound of a busy seafront rather than anything disruptive, and the hotel sits away from the shopping streets, so it quiets down at night — no trouble sleeping.
Service
Staff were consistently helpful. On the first day, someone noticed a cough at check-in and brought a cup of tea with honey without being asked — a small gesture that set the tone for the stay.
Price, and How It Compares to Menton
Three nights came to roughly €500 via Trip.com — about €167 a night, the highest nightly rate of the trip. It’s honestly not a budget price. But the balcony is what justifies it: not just a view, but a private spot to enjoy it.
Compared to the quiet, step-back-and-rest feel of a stay in Menton, this is a completely different experience — here, it feels like you own the view of Nice.
